Facts

  • We start at level 3.

  • You all gain 1 starting feat at level 1 if you choose a race that gains a feat at level 1 gain the Prodigy feat as the second one.

  • You can use any race/class from official sources or non-official sources just ask me first.

  • Come up with a compelling reason for why your character would be interested in the dwindling age problem or exploring Chult.

  • The world map is yours to play with - you can be from anywhere - create any town, village, city you want - it’s up to you.

  • You can come up with any connections with any organizations that you imagine - I will write them into the campaign.

  • You can all know each other from before if you want, you are level 3 so you do have some adventuring experience.

  • IN THE JUNGLE - resting is difficult as you need a comfortable camp, LONG RESTS take 7 DAYS of gametime in the wilds, or 8 hours if in a settlement, safe cave etc.

  • For balancing this means that SHORT RESTS IN THE JUNGLE take 8 hours

Extra Backgrounds

Here are some extra backgrounds that fit the campaign if you’re out of ideas. Backgrounds.pdf

Knives

When writing your character backstory include at least some “knives”. Knives are anything the DM can use to raise the stakes of situation for your character. Anything that can make conflicts more personal. They’re called “knives” because the players lovingly forge them and present them to the DM so that the DM can use them to stab the players over and over again :).

  • Every named person your character cares about, living or dead (i.e. sibling, spouse, childhood friend) +1 knife (a large family can be bundled into one big knife)
  • Every phobia or trauma your character experiences/has experienced +1 knife
  • Every mystery in your character’s life (i.e. unknown parents, unexplained powers) +1 knife
  • Every enemy your character has +1 knife
  • Every ongoing obligation or loyalty your character has +1 knife
  • Additionally, every obligation your character has failed +1 knife
  • Every serious crime your character has committed (i.e. murder, arson) +1 knife
  • Every crime your character is falsely accused of +1 knife
  • Any discrimination experienced (i.e. fantasy racism) +1 knife
  • Every favored item/heirloom +1 knife
  • Every secret your character is keeping +1 knife

You get the point. Any part of your backstory that could be used against you is considered a knife. Try to aim at getting 5-7 knives for your character, but if you don’t want your backstory to be in the campaign 0 is completely acceptable. Don’t overdo it shouldn’t have more than 7-10 knives per character so you don’t become an edgelord.

Homebrew classes

You can use homebrew classes if you want - just run them by me. Most of the internet either recommends looking at KibblesTasty or LaserLlama classes as their the most balanced and fun.
